Insights of an Expert Witness into medical negligence

Manchester Lumps Clinic’s resident Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Amit Kumar is often called upon as an expert witness in medical negligence cases including ones relating to delays in diagnosis of sarcoma.

Mr Kumar is a member of the UK register of Expert Witnesses and recently wrote an article for the Expert Witness Journal. The title of the article was Delays in Sarcoma Diagnosis: The issues around oncological delays and negligence.

In the article Mr Kumar gave three case examples of where negligence may have occurred, the impact on the patience and the causes of the misdiagnosis. The article goes on to explain the issues that can lead to a case of medical negligence, specifically related to misdiagnosis of sarcoma, and how such cases can be avoided.
