Introduction

What are bone tumours?

Bone tumours are abnormal growths from within bony tissue that may be benign or malignant. They may present as external swellings and can occur near a joint commonly the knee.

Common bone tumours

Benign

  • Osteoid Osteoma
  • Giant Cell Tumours

Malignant

  • Osteosarcoma
  • Ewing’s Sarcoma
  • Chondrosarcoma

Symptoms

Seek urgent assessment by the clinic if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • Swelling bigger than 5cm
  • Deep swelling
  • Pain
  • Increasing in size
  • Pain at night, no trauma
