Lipomas are small, or large, benign fatty lumps that appear commonly in the lumps or torso. They are usually harmless unless large and deep which can press on surrounding structures such as muscle and nerves.

Very large lipomas can actually be Atypical Lipomatous Tumours (ALT) and thus all should at least have a baseline ultrasound scan by an experienced radiologist.
