• Metastatic bone disease occurs as a result of primary cancer spreading to the spine or axial skeleton.
  • This may cause pain as healthy bone is replaced by diseased bone.
  • Presenting symptoms may include pain on walking or rest including night time pain.
  • Bone may fracture and can occur at any of sites below, see diagram
  • Patients with any of the cancers below are at risk:
    • Breast
    • Lung
    • Prostate
    • Renal
    • Thyroid
